Brazil 2 - 0 Australia

The game was not fluent till the South Americans took the lead and then it picked up some pace and became interesting. The Aussies will feel a touch hard done but they still have a decent chance of making the next round.

====

Croatia 0 - 0 Japan

Boring.

On a completely unrelated note, your pictures from China are awesome and now I'm really going to beg my dad to let me tag along on one of his future trips. He's going back this week... and I am more jealous than ever!

I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. It's a country definitely worth checking out. I only wish I'd been able to visit it earlier and compare that visit to this one to get a personal idea of how much change has occurred during those two visits.

dude the brazillians were lucky to get through this w/o any goals against them. Australia kicked major butt.

the aussies had a bit less luck but were just not good enough to score any goals. must've all run out after the game against japan.

Is that you Hari? Please tell me it is, so I can make comments about beer goggles or somesuch.

I have great doubts about England advancing beyond the quarters. Not that this stops the tabloid press from helping that country's populace indulge in massive collective self-delusion year after year.

Yeh it was me. I keep forgetting that at home my LJ is not permanently logged in (for security reasons).

England will win the World Cup.

Am really happy Brazil won-the first half it seemed it could swing either way. The Aussies were too aggressive-it got very tiring seeing their tactics after a while.

Yeh, the Aussies have been quite physical in both their games so far which isn't very pleasant to watch. I was supporting them in this match however because I don't like Brazil very much.

Everybody supports Brazil. It gets boring after a while. ;) What are the other teams you support? I suspect Netherlands is one of them...

Btw, feel free to add yourself onto my blog dedicated to India:

Yes, I will definitely add that blog!
Netherlands, as you guessed, Argentina, Spain and Italy being the others.

Nice selection of teams. I like watching the first three play but I support Italy (and of course England).

Thanks. Brazil and Argentina stand a good enough chance of winning. Japan was an easy team but it gets tougher now-lets see how they, especially Brazil, perform.

Bah, everyone else is just too soft. Except for the Italians and Americans. We need more of their kind.

There are enough contact sports available for your types to be satisfied without spoiling the Beautiful Game.

It was not fair, it didn't feel like a game. Their Dutch coach, it seems, taught them how to be aggressive very well. I like to see a game with more display of skills and excitement. The right balance needs to be there...
