Maybe women's cricket might be an answer there. The problem for we traditionalists is of course the tiny amount of Test cricket played by women (I'm not sure England play any now other than the Ashes match) but it's certainly a lot cheaper to see. There was apparently a T20 game in June between NZ and India* at Clifton College, where you can see the field from the road outside as there's only a wire fence. Now that's cheap international cricket!
