Spare a thought for the Feds

As looters and rioters smashed up shops, looted and fought with police in Camden Town, Philippa Morgan-Walker, 25 and her husband, Jonny Walker, 31, made tea for the police who were protecting their street. Some of the officers had been on duty for more than 30 hours. And they're using a riot shield as a tray! There's also a clean-up of various parts of the city and other affected areas across England being organised on Facebook. It's amazing how events like these galvanise communities into action. Keep safe and stay positive!

I love this picture as well! I think it should receive far more media coverage than some of the images that have been broadcast. Thankfully the near-tripling of police forces on the streets of London tonight have done the trick (along with other precautionary measures taken during the day) but the rioting seems to have gotten worse in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham... and as I type, even Gloucester! I do think the situation is calming itself down and the initial hysteria has been overcome. I just hope the police do their job properly in the aftermath and bring as many as possible to book as quickly as possible to send a clear message that this kind of behaviour should never been tolerated - whatever its causes, legitimate or otherwise.
