I'm pretty sure there are Kashmiris who disagree. And for something that "belongs" to India, India isn't doing such a great job of taking care of it.

QUITE the contrary. Read "The Glass Palace" by Amitav Ghosh. You will know that Burma was AS MUCH a part if India as any other state now, IRRESPECTIVE of the English. So was Pakistan. So was Bangladesh. And we let them divide us.

IMPERIALISM BY ANYONE DOESN'T MAKE FOR A UNIFIED SUBCONTINENT AND HARDLY LEGITIMISES THE ARTIFICIAL BOUNDARIES OF NATION-STATES, NOR THE EXPANSIONIST AMBITIONS THEREOF. SINCE THE BRITISH WAS THE MOST RECENT EMPIRE TO HAVE CONTROL OVER THE INDIAN SUBCONTINENT, AND IT'S STILL FEELING THE EFFECTS OF BRITISH IMPERIALISM, IT'S HARDLY FAR-FETCHED TO SAY THAT THE NATIONAL BOUNDARIES DRAWN IN THE 1940s STILL AFFECT INDIAN POLITICS TODAY.
