Indo-Canadian Denied Entry to USA

In the same week that I was interrogated for nearly an hour by US Immigration, an Indo-Canadian was barred from boarding a flight from Edmonton, Canada to attend the funeral of a childhood friend in California.

We have a few things in common but at least I didn't provoke the customs officer by asking:

"Do you think the airplane's not safe if I'm sitting on it? Do I look like a criminal?"

One has to distinguish between a right and a privilege and visiting another country is a privilege, not a right. It could so easily have been me!

the private firms that provide airport security offer about the same pay and benefits as working at mcdonalds. the 'security training' most of them receive is watching several hours of instructional video per year.
