LIVERPOOL 8 - 0 Besiktas [Crouch 19' 89', Benayoun 32' 53' 56', Gerrard 69', Babel 79' 81']

MATCH REPORT

The biggest victory in the history of Champions League football! It's nights like these that one looks forward to as a football fan. A once in a lifetime scoreline, a rarity at the highest level of football in Europe. Two weeks ago we lost to Besiktas in Istanbul. Tonight we revived a dying unit and sent a loud reminder to the rest of Europe. We're down but we're not out. It's gonna be an uphill struggle but we've finally turned the corner. Two months in the doldrums and we're back on track. But can we maintain the momentum? I wouldn't put money on it yet, but it hardly matters. It's best to sit back and enjoy the moment. Thank you lads for a job well done. YNWA.

I had the Porto-Marseille game on the radio, and every now and then they'd cross to the Liverpool game for an update. One update it was 2-0, next I heard it was 7-0....

I think I will go to a soccer game for the first time ever this weekend. Le Mans v St-Etienne (5th v 8th in the Ligue 1). Le Mans is pathetic at supporting its football team, they don't even get crowds of 10000 per game (the stadium holds 17000). Oh well, it makes it cheap - only 6 € for the unseated region.

Did you go for the football game? At that price I'd be going every week!

Yep. I'll probbaly pre-purchase my ticket next time to get one of the cheap ones.
