Also, I found it interesting that at the time of its accession to the European Community in 1973, divorce was illegal in the Republic of Ireland.
And finally, if Turkey were to join the EU around 2020, chances are they'll be the most populated country of the group, more so than Germany even, which would mean they'd have more representatives in the European Parliament. :)
