Record Snowfall in Montreal
Dec. 19th, 2005 01:22 pmLess than a week after leaving Montreal, the city experienced one of its heaviest snowfalls ever! 41cm fell on Friday, December 16 ... 3cm more than what fell on 27 December, 1969 but 2.2cm less than the record of 43.2cm on 4 March, 1971. More than 200 flights were cancelled - six days earlier and it would've affected me too!
According to CTV, "About 2,200 drivers had called CAA for help by mid-afternoon, even though 90 per cent of Quebecers have snow tires on their vehicles."
Even the local Oman Observer carried an article about it, and it puts into perspective some of the MSN nicknames I'd observed recently...
