Dubya's India Itinerary
Feb. 23rd, 2006 06:00 pmOn the evening of Wednesday, February 28th, George Dubya Bush arrives in India for his first stately visit there. Unlike his predecessor, he will only be hanging around for a couple days and visiting just New Delhi and Hyderabad. Given how much he hates traveling, it's a surprise he's even agreed to come to India. Nevertheless, this is what he'll be upto:
THURSDAY: (1st March 2006)
Morning
21-gun salute at Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidential Palace).
Floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's memorial at Rajghat.
Summit level meeting with PM Manmohan Singh at Hyderabad House (Official Convention Center/Dining Hall).
Meeting with members of the CEO Forum formed in 2005 July. (also in Hyderabad House)
Press Conference with PM.
Afternoon
Lunch hosted by PM at Hotel Taj Palace.
Meetings with L.K. Advani (Leader of the Opposition) and Sonia Gandhi (Chairperson, United Progressive Alliance).
Evening
Dinner hosted by President Abdul Kalam at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
FRIDAY: (2nd March 2006)
Fly to Hyderabad (capital of the southern state of Andhra Pradesh).
Engagement at Acharya N G Ranga Agriculture University.
Visit to the Indian School of Business to meet young entrepreneurs, young economists, IT and Biotech experts.
Announcement of new US Consulate in Hyderabad.
Fly back to New Delhi.
Speech at Purana Qila (Old Fort). Audience includes MPs, academics, artistes & members of industry.
Private dinner at Hotel Maurya Sheraton where Bush & Laura will be staying.
SATURDAY: (3rd March 2006)
Fly to Islamabad, capital of Pakistan (i.e. pseudo-India).
