Indo-Canadian Denied Entry to USA
Sep. 29th, 2006 01:40 pmIn the same week that I was interrogated for nearly an hour by US Immigration, an Indo-Canadian was barred from boarding a flight from Edmonton, Canada to attend the funeral of a childhood friend in California.
We have a few things in common but at least I didn't provoke the customs officer by asking:
"Do you think the airplane's not safe if I'm sitting on it? Do I look like a criminal?"
One has to distinguish between a right and a privilege and visiting another country is a privilege, not a right. It could so easily have been me!
