The Indian cricket team has arrived in England. The series comprises 3 first class tour games, including one in Chelmsford (my birthplace), 3 Tests, one practice one-dayer and 7 ODIs. Gone are the days when a series would kickoff at Arundel, and visiting teams would play atleast five tour games before the first Test match. It's a pity really, because there's nothing quite like a cricket series in England. And considering I live here now, it would've been that much more special. I love going through old tour scorecards and reading the stories that made them so interesting in those days. In any case, I am looking into the possibility of going up to Chelmsford for the tour game against the England Lions. Is it just me or do Lions conjure up images of rugby rather than cricket?

Better still, I may just skip the tour game and save up for the Test at Lord's. Ever since I was a little boy, it has been my ultimate cricketing dream to watch my first Test match at Lord's, cheering on the Indian cricket team. What a golden opportunity I have to make that dream come true and what's more, I may even have the privilege of watching SRT play what will be his final Test at the spiritual home of world cricket. SRT may be in the twilight of his career, but he is still my favourite cricketer of all-time, and one who will have always a special place in my heart, regardless of how well he plays anymore.

Amidst all the action today, this video ad was probably the funniest of the lot. I thought I'd also recommend all you tennis fans to get a copy of the 1980 Men's Wimbledon Final between Borg & McEnroe. During the rain delays, BBC kept us busy with reruns of old Wimbledon classics. This match is arguably one of the greatest of all-time, and is particularly famous for its 4th set tie-break. And finally, I just thought I'd let everybody know that it has been 71 years since a Brit last won the men's singles title, and 30 years in the lady's competition. Their only hope in the near future is a Scotsman. Pretty sad, huh? British Tennis, unheard of since 1936.
