London is Burning
Feb. 9th, 2008 09:15 pmA major fire has broken out in Camden Town Market. More than 100 firefighters are dealing with the situation. There are reports of people trapped in the area but no reports of casualties or injuries. I wasn't too far away when it started (was walking towards King's Cross Station around 7pm) but didn't learn about it till I got to work. I've now been glued to BBC News 24 since turning the TV on. I'm not sure if any of the injured will be brought to any of the hospitals I work for.
UPDATE:
The fire has been doused and there are no casualties or injuries. The area will be shutdown for a few days. That's the good news, I suppose.
London has a rich history of fires:
-Early Fires of London (several)
-The Great Fire of London (1666)
-The Crystal Palace Fire (1936)
-The Second Great Fire of London (1940)
-The Worsley Hotel Fire (1974)
-The New Cross Fire (1981)
-The Oxford Circus Fire (1984)
-The King's Cross Fire (1987)
-The Cutty Sark Fire (2007)
-The Camden Market Fire (2008)
