Whose Shot Is It Anyway?

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), guardians of the Laws of Cricket, have given the all-clear to Kevin Pietersen's switch-hit. There is nothing new about this shot. In a hotly contested game of beach cricket on the shores of the Persian Arabian Gulf on 26 December 2006 (see above pic), yours truly played a similar shot for six runs over midwicket off a full-toss. There was no controversy about the switch-hit then. Instead I was congratulated by everybody who witnessed the incident. I'm sure I wasn't the first and certainly not the last. It bugs me however that this shot will forever be linked with some half-decent South African batter. There's no justice in this world!
