When most I wink, then do mine eyes best see,
For all the day they view things unrespected;
But when I sleep, in dreams they look on thee,
And darkly bright, are bright in dark directed.
Then thou, whose shadow shadows doth make bright,
How would thy shadow's form form happy show
To the clear day with thy much clearer light,
When to unseeing eyes thy shade shines so!
How would, I say, mine eyes be blessed made
By looking on thee in the living day,
When in dead night thy fair imperfect shade
Through heavy sleep on sightless eyes doth stay!
All days are nights to see till I see thee,
And nights bright days when dreams do show thee me.

It's official. The ideologically Labour-supporting Guardian newspaper have endorsed the Liberal Democrats in next week's general election. But they're not the only major newspaper to switch allegiance. For the first time in eighteen years, The Times have decided to endorse the Conservatives, joining The Economist, Sunday Torygraph, Daily Mail, News of the World and The Sun. The latter tabloid, Britain's most widely-read newspaper, made headlines last September by declaring "Labour's Lost It" while adding "The Sun believes - and prays - that the Conservative leadership can put the great back into Great Britain". Interestingly, the Scottish Sun have not thrown their weight behind either Labour or the Tories! Meanwhile the Daily Mail (see above) and Telegraph (front page, really?) have competed with one another to embarrass Nick Clegg, the leader of the Lib Dems. The surge and retention of support for Britain's third-largest party has taken the conservative media by surprise. It's all about damage control and scaremongering now. Let's hope it backfires. And the FT claim Labour are in a state of disarray. So who is still supporting Labour? It seems only the Mirror. Well as they say in the pubs here, Time Gentlemen Please!
