Greenland Standard Time
Sep. 27th, 2010 01:15 pmIt's the world's biggest island yet it's not an independent state. If it were, it would be the world's thirteenth largest country. Yet it's not considered a part of Denmark's overall territory, merely an autonomous country within its Kingdom. It's so big it covers four time zones, but because the vast majority of its 57,000 population lives within just one of these, three zones are simply ignored. So in practice only the GMT-3 zone is ever used. And although it's part of the North American continent, because of its Danish connection, it follows the EU DST.
