Cricket, 2nd Test, Day 1

Virendra Sehwag has just departed after falling 19 runs short of yet another take-it-as-you-please century on a perfect batting track @ the Eden Gardens, Calcutta. Luckily for me, ever since I stopped expecting too much from the Butcher of Najafgarh, I have been able to restrain myself from doing something wild and stupid while watching him wrest the initiative to the opposition, with a typical rush of blood. His dismissal however, brings the original-master blaster version out to the crease. Ladies and gentleman, put your hands together to welcome, His Royal Cricketing Highness, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. Here's to hoping for the Magic Number 35... but in the meantime, get to 10,000 first. :)
Meanwhile, Amit Varma continues to evoke laughter from all those who read his sometimes-hilarious, sometimes-irritating blog, India Uncut. Here's one entry I particularly enjoyed.
Also, I found the picture below on GettyImages. Thanks are in order for
gcsaussieangel for introducing me to the net's most awesome collection of professional photos. I am much indebted to you for this wonderful discovery. :)

This is Salman Butt, the young Pakistani opener, signing a plethora of autographs during a practice session, a day before the 2nd Test began. Unfortunately he was dropped but regardless of whether you're playing or not, every foreign cricketer is treated like a superstar in India.
