What's the easiest (though not necessarily ideal) way for a foreigner to spend a legally-long 'holiday' in India without getting a tourist visa?

Break a leg and come here for the treatment. Or two, for an extended stay.

Meanwhile, I met up with [livejournal.com profile] vimoh yesterday evening. His entry about it sums things up quite nicely. :) Good luck with the job hunt, once again.

Belated congratulations to Mutu on his new wedding. [livejournal.com profile] buthan might also enjoy the fact that the currency of Botswana is called the pula. :)

And finally, something from the bookshop. The other day I chanced upon a couple books that SO deserve to be part of my collection.

[livejournal.com profile] pappubahry amongst others would surely enjoy Word & Phrase Origins by Robert Hendrickson (Rs. 1700). Equally enjoyable was another called Britain: Then & Now by Edmund Swinglehurst (Rs. 800). I was imagining how lovely it would be if I could add it to my existing collection of similar books on Old Oman and Madras: Its Past and Present. All of them photo-collections and all from places I hold very dear to my heart.

I feel like such a nerd, but I think I would absolutely love the word/phrase origins book.

:) There's nothing nerdy about Word Origins... it's served me well as an ice-breaker on many a social occasion!
