Rahul Sharad Dravid... is the new INDIAN CRICKET TEST CAPTAIN. What a moment! Some say this is as good as it gets in terms of prestige... 2nd only to the Indian Prime Ministership. I just hope he's able to maintain his batting average and not go down the path of the Vaughans et al. Check this though, in his last 51 Tests, Dravid has scored at an average of 61.97! Effin' amazing! Poor Sourav though... the news just keeps getting worse and worse.

Are you sure? Didn't seem so in Ganguly's times!

CONGRATULATIONS to Dravid... there's something about him that inspires faith, innit?

Are you saying it's more prestigious or less? ;)

Oh definitely. He's the complete cricketer - great dependable player, team man, suave with the media, good looking... what else could you ask for?

Here, it is certainly the case that the Test captain has a more prestigious position than the PM. Certainly the PM said so once....

Wow. Which PM? Yeh [livejournal.com profile] dubaiwalla and I were having a conversation about that today and he said the same as you. I read an article once which put it in the order I've typed above and certainly think so myself but maybe if Dravid leads us through a golden period with Greggie then who knows what I'll think @ the end of it.

Here's something crazy... I found access to a link that lets me watch ABC (the Asia-Pacific version though) 24-7. My quest for the perfect Aussie accent receives a shot in the arm. :)

Ganguly's had his day in the sun. In his time, with his achievements, he certainly did rise a few notches over anybody else in India. I think those days are the ones that should be kept in mind when talking about Ganguly.

It would be interesting, though, to see where Dravid leads the team; having been one of the major architects of India's climb to #3 in the Test rankings.

With Greg & Dravid I am very optimistic and hopeful for the future of Indian cricket. If only our board would be just as flexibile and invest into the infrastructure that will help elevate India to the levels teams like Australia and England have set.
