As in those things like the square root of 2? That was certainly the theory we adopted back at school in maths.

Sorry for the confusion. In India, Surd/Sard is a shortform of Sardarji, aka Sikhs, aka Punjabis. They're renowned for their brawns, not brains - hence the mathematical reference. :)
