There was much bonhomie between Indian and Pakistani fans during the 2004 series in Pakistan.

"When he batted a strange light was seen for the first time on English fields, a light out of the East," cricket writer Neville Cardus wrote about Ranji, an Indian prince and Test cricketer who played for the English cricket team.

The Indian teams to England in 1932 & 1936 may not have won too many matches, but they won a few admirers and an impressive media coverage.

These are great pictures!

And I'm totally freaking out here because the one of the team meeting the Queen, well, the guy on the left of the one who is shaking hands with Her Majestry looks EXACTLY like a friend of mine, same bloody facial expression and all. Except well, he's in his 20s now, and certainly wasn't playing test cricket in the 1950s!
