India 5/188 beat Australia 7/173 by 15 runs
The Indian sponsors have gotten what they could only have dreamed of, and it certainly makes up for the World Cup disappointment earlier this year. On a night full of niggles, Yuvraj Singh gave us a competitive total and our bowlers got wickets when it mattered most. (Sreesanth's antics after bowling Hayden, Yuvraj's celebration after catching Hussey, and Bhajji's bhangra jiggle in the final over were chuckleworthy moments). Though there's only one problem with this victory. Next Saturday, Australia and India begin a seven-match 50-over ODI series in Bengaluru. The last time the Aussies lost an ODI from a winning position against us (in November 2003), they came back and won all the remaining matches including the final. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself! In the meanwhile, I will wait with much anticipation for the humdinger in Johannesburg. It's well set up especially after the tie in Durban. If only I had Aladdin's lamp. I'd wish to be at the Wanderers on Monday afternoon. Instead I will be spurring the Men In Blue on from a London pub. COME ON INDIA!!!
