I can honestly say that the last 7 tests that India has played against Australia, have reminded me of the pure beauty and pleasure of cricket @ it's best. Nothing, supersedes Test Cricket. I just hope there's a lobby working on extending the next one @ home to a 5-fer because the fans and players deserve it. And if the ICC could be kind enough to allow it, follow it up with a 4 nation ODI tourney between these two, Pakistan and S.Africa.

Apparently, India-Pak-Aus play an ODI tourney during the summer in one of either Scotland, Holland or Ireland!! Does anybody know much more about that?

Of a possible 750 overs I could watch while in Oman, I must've seen nearly 3/4ths of that, if not more. I watched most of the final test, barring the final day, and wow, wow, wow!! It wasn't as exciting as the 2001 series but the fact we laid to rest the horrors of 1999-00 in such emphatic style was a pleasure to behold.

My favorite periods of play were Sehwag's 195 @ the MCG, Dravid's 91* @ the SCG and the SRT/Laxman parternership on the morning of Day 3 when Laxman silkily tore Brett Lee apart.

Yes, I'm rather happy to talk about this series and despite the 1-1 finish, I still think the Aussies were lucky to have gotten away with just that. :-)

Onto the ODI series and Pakistan thereafter!

I know you put a smiley at the end, but I don't think Australia was lucky to have got 1-1. Agarkar's first ever really good spell in test cricket was all that stopped India from going down 2-0. 1-1 was a fair result.

The India-Pak-Aus tournament is news to me, and news to CricInfo as well, who aren't listing it on their Forthcoming page. It would be a change in policy of Cricket Australia to take part in a meaningless ODI triangular not held in a test-playing nation.

It's Friday, and I don't feel like doing much work. Christian got back from (part of) his summer scholarship at the ANU recently, and I chatted with him today. He was at the SCG for day 3 of the final test! He said that there were still tickets available at the gate when he turned up, having spent the night at UNSW. He also said that the roar when Waugh walked out to bat was amazing.

I think I'll depart from my usual policy on these matters and pay the $8 or whatever to see Waugh play his last first class game at the Gabba in the Qld v NSW game starting on 1 Feb. Assuming, of course, that Qld doesn't host NSW in a repeat of last year's final.

I just hope that the Blues are batting on day 1.

As of right this very instant, with Mark Waugh on 20 not out, his first class average is 52.31. Steve Waugh's first class average is 52.31. Incredible. They only diverge at the fourth decimal place.

Does anyone but Hari read these messages of mine? Just curious...

I'm happy to have an audience of one, but an audience of two is twice as nice.

Also Hari, you asked about how much of Kumble I've seen outside of India. The only matches I've ever seen in India were some WC96 matches, and an Asian Test Championship match or two. So basically all I've seen of all the Indians has been away from home.
