Interesting research from Bristol University suggests boys in England's primary state schools perform 'significantly' better in Englist tests if they are taught in classes with fewer girls. But as the proportion of girls grows, the results achieved by their male classmates falls. The researcher who carried out the work, Steven Pound, concludes it 'might be beneficial for boys to be educated in single-sex classes' in English.
