Two Oscars, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and now the Grammys. Well done A.R. Rahman! Thanks to Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, the Tamil composer sure is riding the crest of Western success. And he deserves it all. Slumdog Millionaire wasn't his finest work but up there with the best. It seems like only yesterday when I first heard his music in one of my favourite films of all-time, the 1992 hit Roja.

I saw him a few weeks ago at a free open air concert here in Sydney, along with 70,000 other people! It was a pretty amazing show, the crowd went wild for Roja! I know I did!

Oh wow, you were at that concert!! So lucky! And it's interesting he played stuff from Roja. The only reason I knew about the Sydney concert was because he did his next concert a few days later in Muscat which my sister attended, and the press release that I read about it when I was there mentioned he would be flying in from Sydney! But 70,000 - now that's pretty impressive!! I don't think there were more than 20,000 at the one in Muscat, but then again there's no stadium that can hold more people than that. I wish I could've gone, though I heard he didn't play any of his old hits... and instead it was a rather eclectic set.

Whoa. How large is the stadium used for the Gulf Cup final?

40,000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sultan_Qaboos_Sports_Complex), but they don't usually allow non-sporting events to take place there. The concert took place in the only other major football stadium that has a capacity of about 20,000.
