"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the ref that it wasn't a booking." -Tom Nycz-Losi

I'm not happy. He's good, but I don't like players who subscribe to the Van Bommel School of Fair Play. Makes Materazzi look like a saint.

Heh. Yeh probably his replacement. Depends whether Barca table a bid, now that Marcotti has suggested Inter can't afford the asking price. I'll be sad to lose Mascha but he wanted to leave last season and we should cash in now. Roy has done well to convince Nando to stay at least one more season. Now if we could just get another goalscoring striker.

I really like Roy Hodgson. If you get another goalscoring striker you will certainly have a lot better season than last year I think, Joe Cole and Steven Gerrard will link up well and anyone who plays in front of them who has his head on will do well

I really like Hodgy as well but even he'll admit he's lucky to be managing a club like Liverpool. Before he took up the Fulham assignment it looked like a long career that promised more than it delivered would end with a degree of obscurity in the lower echelons of the Football League. But he's got a lease of life and what an opportunity to put three decades of experience in so many different countries to use. At a minimum, he will instil a team spirit that had factionalised in the dying months of Rafa's reign. And from what he's said so far, it seems like he won't distract himself with the ownership issues the way Rafa did. It's sad Rafa had to leave after the high of 2008/9 and all that he did in the Champions League, but it was time for something different. Hopefully Roy will allow the players more freedom than Rafa did, while remaining the astute tactician that he is.
