FA CUP CHAMPIONS
May. 13th, 2006 01:15 pmRemember the name, Steeeeven Gerrard! Stevie G for GOD.
What an amazing match. Almost a repeat of last year's European Cup Final. Two goals down, two goals reply. One more down, last minute equalizer.
Great saves by Pepe Reina but Stevie G man, Stevie G. England 2006!

When you walk through the storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark
Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE

Sevilla 4 - 0 Middlesbrough
May. 10th, 2006 04:45 pmI just finished watching the UEFA Cup Final on SopCast's Chinese sports channels.
The scoreline doesn't do any justice to the way Boro played for most of the game. They kept trying for an equalizer (when the score was 1-0) but when the Andalucian team scored their second goal against the run of play, Boro unravelled and it turned into carnage.
By the end, the English club were lucky to have let in only 4. Nevertheless, a wonderful performance by a team that almost consistently found itself near the relegation zone in the Premiership and overcame triple goal deficits in the previous two rounds of the UEFA Cup to make the final.
An unfortunate end to Steve McLaren's managerial career at the Riverside. Is this an omen of things to come as he moves onto bigger and better things with the national team?

Last Day @ the Premiership
May. 7th, 2006 12:10 pmPortsmouth 1 - 3 LIVERPOOL
====
Man Poo 4 - 0 Charlton
Arsenal 4 - 2 Wigan
Newcastle 1 - 0 Chelski
West Ham 2 - 1 Spurs
====
So we finish 3rd. Two places higher than last season and 24 more points. We still need to qualify for the group stage of the European Cup though.
9 straight wins to finish off the Premiership and 11 consective wins in all competitions. Apparently this emulates a similar record achieved during the 1989 season! :)
More importantly, all 3 strikers got a goal today which bodes well for next week's FA Cup final against the Hammers who incidentally beat Spurs.
Man Poo destroyed Charlton, Arsenal finished 4th, the first time they didn't end up in the Top 2 for eight years while Chelsea continued their end of season slump. Those Russian-owned buggers deserve every bloody loss.

1 Liverpool - Man City 0, Riise 60
Nov. 27th, 2005 06:31 am"This is the first time that Liverpool have won four Premiership matches on the trot under Benitez, and the victory brought cause for some optimism.
What it did not bring, of course, was a goal for Peter Crouch, a riddle, wrapped inside a mystery, inside a basketball player.
Benitez will continue to defend his striker, but it is now 1,349 minutes since Crouch's last competitive goal and should his next outing again prove fruitless it will take him to within a minute of the 24-hour mark. It brings a whole new meaning to the concept of playing all day without scoring."
