Exactly a year ago one of my best friends and I visited
La Ville-Lumière (The City of Lights). It was her first visit and my second one after attending the European
Harvard Model Congress of 2001. We covered a fair bit of territory in the few days we were there. My friend flew in from Edinburgh and I took the overnight bus from London. After a tiring journey we spent the few hours of the first evening at the
Louvre which I wasn't able to see in my earlier visit, ate dinner in the
St Germain quarter, before finishing up with a relaxing walk along the
Seine.
Paris is a beautiful city, steeped in history and in the words of many, a museum in and of itself. It will never surpass the love I have of London, but it comes darn close. I can't wait to go back. Future posts will include photos from the
Palace of Versailles, the
Basilica in St Denis, views from atop the
Tour Eiffel and the hill upon which the
Sacre Coeur Basilica rests. In the meanwhile, I would appreciate it if you could identify any of the paintings/sculptures attached below and in future posts. Enjoy!
