Yesterday we whizzed through The Louvre, ate dinner with fine wine in the Saint Germain quarter and digested our meal with a Seine-side stroll. Today you will be transported on top of the Arc de Triomphe monument, then stroll down the Champs-Élysées Avenue and be treated to more French wine goodness. Photos from Versailles, which I visited with [livejournal.com profile] pappubahry, to follow. Enjoy!

L'Arc de Triomphe.

Paris Metro graffiti targeted at the Germans and Arabs. What would Clemenceau have said?

I wondered if the English slogan was added purposely because the ad was situated in the Champs-Elysees Metro Station.

Same deal with a KFC ad.

But not the same deal for an ad in the same station patriotically showing-off native delicacies. Crafty.

This is the actual McDonald's advertised above on the Champs-Elysees Avenue. It's reputedly the world's busiest branch.

The underside of the Arc. I love the symmetry.

'This monument began in 1806 in honour of the Great Army followed by a long interruption till 1823. With new dedication in the summer of 1836, the monument was completed for King Louis Philippe I and it is dedicated to the glorious French armies.'

Apparently you're supposed to go commando inside L'Arc. The French are weird.

The view of Champs-Elysees Avenue from atop L'Arc.

And if you zoom in you can see the Place de La Concorde, The Louvre behind it and Notre-Dame to the right.

The obligatory photo with the Tour Eiffel wherever you can get it from.

The Champs-Elysees turns into Avenue Charles de Gaulle as you drive away (and West) from Paris. In the distance is La Defense.

La Defense - The Paris Business District.

And there's nothing like finishing the night (and this post) than with a good bottle of French wine. Have a good day!
